오슬로의 새로운 메인 도서관을 설계하기 위한 국제 건축 공모전은 2009년 룬드 하젬과 아틀리에 오슬로 건축가들이 우승했다.
사서들은 방문객들이 현대 도서관이 제공할 수 있는 모든 새로운 시설과 활동을 탐험하도록 영감을 줄 집을 원했다.
이것은 우리가 새로운 장소를 발견하기 위해 다음 모퉁이를 돌 때 끊임없이 초대받는 개방적이고 흥미로운 건물을 만들도록 동기를 부여했다.
